So a flat white is just a shot of espresso with frothy milk. However, like a cappuccino, it has a shot of espresso. My favorite coffee to make is a flat white. For anyone new to a flat white, think of it as a cappuccino with no foam, no hot milk, and less frothy milk. To make my specialty espressos, I use my Ninja Coffee bar or my Nespresso Vertuo Plus (which comes with the best milk frother ever!). As much as I love my Moka pot, even it has limitations. I sometimes want a Starbucks but don’t want to spend $5-7 on coffee. Today, I continue to enjoy and love a nice hot mug of espresso. I usually make my espresso using my favorite cuban coffee, Bustelo, and one of the two Moka pots my mom gifted me (because she wants to make sure I keep up the habit, of course). ![]() In law school, it kept me going around the clock during exams. My mom had the Moka pot brewing like clockwork, at least two or three times a day. This is not unusual growing up in a Latina and Haitian household. I had c afé con leche every morning as early as I can remember. Some kids grow up drinking milk, we grew up on coffee. My love for coffee started at a young age. ![]() I scoff at water downed versions of coffee and will go out of my way when traveling to enjoy a local cup of the good stuff at a highly rated coffee shop. ![]() From cappuccino to vanilla latte to my all-time favorite, a flat white, I admit to being a coffee snob.
